Know which DayZ files a custom event really needs

Custom vehicles, buildings, hordes, animals and loot scenes can touch more than one file. The correct package depends on what is spawning and how DayZ represents it.

Begin with the event definition and spawn points

events.xml defines what the event spawns, its target counts, lifetime, radii, flags, position mode, limit and children. cfgeventspawns.xml gives the identically named event one or more coordinates and optional rotations. The event name must match exactly, including capital letters.

Use a valid event prefix

DayZ event names normally begin with a supported purpose such as Vehicle, Static, Loot, Item, Infected or Animal. The child type must be a real classname from the selected map and game version. Do not turn a display name into a guessed classname.

Only add group and prototype data when required

cfgeventgroups.xml is needed when an event uses an event group rather than a simple child spawn. mapgroupproto.xml is relevant when a spawned building or group needs loot-position prototype data. A simple infected or animal event does not automatically need fabricated entries in all four files.

Keep counts internally consistent

Nominal and min control the event target, while child min and max control what each event instance can contain. Review limit and position modes alongside fixed spawn points. Contradictory values can produce no spawns or far more entities than the server can handle.

Use coordinates from the correct map

Spawn positions are map-specific. Use X and Z from the selected Chernarus, Livonia or Sakhal map and use the angle for orientation when it matters. Four castle points on Chernarus cannot be copied into a Sakhal mission and expected to work.

Merge, validate and verify after restart

Insert the new records without deleting unrelated live entries. Parse every changed XML file, compare matching event names across the package and check referenced classes. After upload and restart, use RPT evidence to confirm the server accepted and spawned the event.

Questions Server Owners Ask

Do all DayZ events require four XML files? No. events.xml and cfgeventspawns.xml are the common pair for positioned CE events. cfgeventgroups.xml and mapgroupproto.xml are conditional on the event's group, building or loot-prototype design.
Why must event names match?DayZ uses the name to connect the definition in events.xml with its positions or group data. A spelling or case difference breaks that link.
Can one event have several spawn points?Yes. The matching cfgeventspawns.xml event can contain multiple position entries when the event is designed to choose or use several locations.
How do I avoid erasing other events?Start from a verified current live download, add or update only the owned record, compare entry counts and reject an output that unexpectedly shrinks unrelated content.

The bot functions great, with plenty of options. The translation feature is pretty unique and handy for my server which has some international players. The owner of the bot is super helpful and on the ball if you have any issues, would 1000000% recommend!
